“Stylishly confusing, enchantingly dark, breath taking finale to an equally vexing trifecta of masterful films.”
~ Gaijin Otaku Gundan – Cinema Detachment

Deftly weaving a unique, undeniably human tapestry from the dark humor, disturbing violence and striking imagery of its predecessors ‘Sympathy For Lady Vengeance’ is a meticulously crafted, intense and thought provoking film – one that beautifully brings the Chan-wook vengeance trilogy full circle.

Though I’m looking forward to seeing both ‘Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance’ and ‘Oldboy’ on the big screen, I have a really bad feeling about the forthcoming US theatrical release of ‘Lady Vengeance.’

It’s not a matter of digital or analog projection mind you – regardless of venue I have a hard time believing the movie could ever look bad! What scares me most are box office returns. More specifically it’s the stuffed shirts here in Hollywood who decide how to generate those returns… marketing this film could easily be mismanaged and turned into a horror show par excellence.

To wit, the current IMDB and various distribution websites categorize ‘Lady Vengeance’ primarily as a comedy also listed in the drama sub-genre.

OK, I admit there’s no shortage of sardonic laughs to be had but the film is worlds away from anything close to a chuckle-fest – so that’s Problematic Selling Point #1.

Now consider Stateside movie goers insatiable need to be bludgeoned repeatedly with seizure inducing jump-cut violent trailers, even if those 30 seconds of gore are the only ones in entire movie!

Yes, ‘Lady Vengeance’ has some intensely unsettling scenes of disturbing violence both on-screen and implied, but no way is it in the same universe as ‘Saw’ or ‘Hostel’ there’s Problematic Selling Point #2.

Laden with similar idiosyncrasy as this film is I could go on, but instead, just imagine for a moment that Monster Truck Rally Guy’s voice droning on in his This Is So Exciting I’m Gonna Pee style: “In theatres this spring – laugh along with Lady Vengeance as she blasts her way towards redemption with classic Kill Bill Asian Flair!”

It will be a very grave disservice to a wonderful, stylishly confusing, enchantingly dark, breath taking finale to an equally vexing trifecta of masterful films.

Hmz i ment it in a nice way… But we did some more research and i can advise humans, dwarves and knight elves to stay away from those dangerous spots too when the water is salt! Ocean crocs seem to be a bit more dangerous and bigger too compared to the past. Tested it on a few Tauren youngsters…nEspecially around Teldrassil and Darkshore… It seems the growing species effect around Teldrassil has its effect on the crocs too! Where will this end? Come on
